It is a quiet but profound thread in the town’s past.
Today Simsbury is a prosperous suburb known for its scenery and its quality of life. Above the town, Heublein Tower rises 165 feet from the crest of Talcott Mountain — built in 1914 by the spirits magnate Gilbert Heublein as a summer “castle” and now the centerpiece of Talcott Mountain State Park, drawing hikers to its panoramic views. Down on the valley floor near the Farmington River stands the Pinchot Sycamore, the largest tree in the state, and the town’s handsome main street and historic center complete the picture of an affluent valley community.

Routes 10 and 202 run together north and south through the heart of town, the main artery carrying drivers toward Hartford and Avon, while Route 44 crosses the valley and Route 185 climbs over Talcott Mountain.
