A Bristol traffic ticket is heard at New Britain Superior Court (GA15), so you want a lawyer who knows that court and Connecticut traffic law β not a generalist.
Bristol is a small city in Hartford County, about twenty miles southwest of Hartford, with an outsized place in American industrial history. Settled as the parish of New Cambridge, it became, by the early 19th century, the cradle of American clockmaking β for a time nearly all the capital and skill in town flowed into the clock trade, with firms like the Sessions and Ingraham companies turning Bristol into the country’s clockmaking capital. That heritage is preserved today at the American Clock & Watch Museum, and it set the pattern for the diversified manufacturing that followed. Bristol was incorporated as a city in 1911.
The city is best known nationally for two very different institutions. ESPN built its headquarters here in 1979 and has grown into the town’s most famous resident, a sprawling broadcast campus that put Bristol on the map for sports fans everywhere. And just outside the center sits Lake Compounce, which opened in 1846 and is recognized as the oldest continuously operating amusement park in the United States β a rare piece of living 19th-century leisure history. Bristol also keeps a gentler tradition as the “Mum City,” celebrated each fall with its long-running chrysanthemum festival.
Bristol is really a set of distinct sections rather than one undivided city. Forestville, established as its own village in 1833, sits in the southeast; Chippens Hill rises in the northwest, Edgewood lies to the northeast, and Cedar Lake anchors the southwest, with the commercial center in the middle. Those neighborhoods give residents a strong sense of which part of Bristol they call home.
A city of this size and spread moves a lot of traffic on a few main roads. U.S. Route 6 and Route 72 carry the principal east-west flow through the center, and Route 69 runs north up Burlington Avenue. These corridors handle the bulk of the commuter and commercial traffic β and the citations that come with it. We keep track of these roads and the enforcement along them, which is generally where the violations described below begin.

David Villa knows what itβs like when the government has a grip on your life β and heβs built his career standing between drivers and the power of the state.
People often ask him how he can defend those accused of breaking the law. His answer is simple: he's not defending the offense, he's defending a right.

Connecticut has two very different camera systems watching drivers. One mails you a $50 fine. The other, Flock, feeds police investigations. Here's how to tell them apart.
Read Article βYou aren't required to, but a ticket can mean more than a fine β points and a possible insurance increase. An attorney who handles Connecticut traffic matters can review your options and often appear for you so you don't have to attend.
Continuances push a case back but don't settle it, and repeated delays can stretch the matter out without improving the result. It's usually better to have the ticket assessed and a real strategy chosen.
Bristol cases are handled at New Britain Superior Court (GA15), which serves Bristol and several nearby central-Connecticut towns.
For many traffic matters an attorney can appear at the New Britain court on your behalf, so a personal trip may not be necessary. We can review your ticket and explain what your appearance would involve.
Depending on the violation and your driving record, a conviction can add points to your Connecticut license and may affect your insurance. How much it matters depends on the specifics, which is why reviewing the ticket first is worthwhile.
